EDMONTON — As Alberta undertakes consultations for a renewed climate change strategy, the Pembina Institute is bringing some of the best thinking on climate policy to Edmonton for the daylong 2015 Alberta Climate Summit on September 9.

A mix of speakers, panels and Q&As will present a range of perspectives on energy and climate policy, drawing on real solutions at work in other jurisdictions. Speakers include:

  • The Honourable Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women
  • Chief Allan Adam, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation
  • Dawn Farrell, CEO, TransAlta
  • Bruce Nilles, Campaign to End Coal, Sierra Club (U.S.)
  • David Runnalls, Centre for International Governance Innovation
  • Robert Hornung, Canadian Wind Energy Association
  • Bob Walker, NEI Investments
  • Drew Nelson, Environmental Defence Fund

These and other speakers will discuss carbon pricing, opportunities for clean electricity, how to increase energy efficiency, innovation in the oilsands and how to create lasting jobs and prosperity for Albertans.
