Researcher Sander Jacobs
Research group Nature and Society, Institute for Nature and Forest Research INBO
Abstract:
Research on nature-society interactions if a very broad field involving many specialisms and disciplinary schools. From a values perspective, conflicts occur when values of different groups are traded off: economic development versus indigenous culture, profit farming versus landscape heritage,… This presentation will demonstrate how scientists and assessments are biased by default, and maybe suggest some ways forward.
