FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 26, 2017 CONTACT: mediaservices@aei.org, 202.862.5829 Washington, DC (September 26, 2017) — American Enterprise Institute (AEI) President Arthur C. Brooks announced today that Resident Scholar Stephen D. Oliner, the codirector of the International Center on Housing Risk, will hold the State Farm James Q. Wilson Chair. Stephen Oliner joined AEI as a resident scholar in 2012 after spending more than 25 years at the Federal Reserve Board, where he held a variety of high-level positions and was actively involved in the Fed’s analysis of the US economy and financial markets. Dr. Oliner is also a senior fellow in the Ziman Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Los Angeles. At AEI, Dr. Oliner will continue his work on real estate issues at the International Center on Housing Risk, supplemented by research on the growth potential of the US economy. The State Farm James Q. Wilson Chair was named after the late preeminent social scientist and longtime AEI trustee and scholar James Q. Wilson. The chair supports research dedicated to AEI’s founding principles of freedom, opportunity, and enterprise, and it is made possible thanks to a $3 million gift from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. “Steve has established himself as one of the nation’s leading experts on real estate, housing, and the US macroeconomy,” stated Arthur Brooks. “I’m thrilled to name him to this chair, and I look forward to the outstanding, impactful research that he will continue to produce. Steve’s work simultaneously reflects complete academic rigor and a deep moral concern for building a better country. We are lucky to have him at AEI, and I am pleased that we can further recognize his efforts with this appointment.” “It is a great honor to hold the State Farm James Q. Wilson Chair at AEI,” said Stephen Oliner. “I stand in awe of Professor Wilson’s profound and wide-ranging achievements. His insightful empirical research, intellectual honesty, and devotion to addressing important policy issues are a model for all scholars. I will do my best to honor his legacy through my work.” For additional information, please contact AEI Media Services at mediaservices@aei.org or 202.862.5829. ### The American Enterprise Institute is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world.
