This week, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will make back-to-back visits to the White House. Macron will begin his three day visit today, including a state dinner on Tuesday, followed by an address before a joint session of Congress on Wednesday. On Friday, President Trump will host the recently re-elected Chancellor Merkel.
The European leaders are expected to discuss several pressing issues, including Syria and Russia, international trade and tariffs, and the Iran nuclear deal, which President Trump has threatened to abandon by May 12 unless it is sufficiently improved.
