FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Washington, DC (August 21, 2019): American Enterprise Institute (AEI) Resident Scholar Yuval Levin, who directs the Institute’s recently launched Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies research division, announced today that several resident and nonresident scholars will be joining AEI to pursue important research work. Two new scholars will reside full time at AEI: is a widely published legal and constitutional scholar and director of the C. Boyden Gray Center for the Study of the Administrative State at George Mason University. White previously practiced constitutional and administrative law and was a research fellow at the Hoover Institution. is a prominent journalist, analyst, author, and intellectual historian of the right. Continetti has been the editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon and was an editor at The Weekly Standard. In addition, five new scholars will join AEI in part-time visitor capacities to pursue scholarly projects: is a professor of political science at Loyola University Maryland and most recently coeditor of “What So Proudly We Hail: The American Soul in Story, Speech, and Song” (Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2013). is a professor of political science and provost at Assumption College and most recently author of “Old Whigs: Burke, Lincoln, and the Politics of Prudence” (Encounter, 2019). is a New York Times columnist and most recently author of “To Change the Church: Pope Francis and the Future of Catholicism” (Simon & Schuster, 2018). is a senior writer at National Review and author of “My Father Left Me Ireland: An American Son’s Search for Home” (Sentinel, 2019). is a writer, activist, investor, and author of “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis” (Harper, 2016). Through books, articles, essays, public speaking, and teaching, these scholars will advance the work of AEI’s Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies division. They will study the foundations of self-government, law, regulation, and constitutionalism, as well the state of American social, political, and civic life, focusing on the preconditions necessary for family, community, and country to flourish.
