RITE, in association with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), hosted a CCS Technical Workshop with a theme, Approaches to Address Concerns over CO2 leakage from a reservoir, in Tokyo on 30 January 2015. There were 186 participants from businesses, universities, research institutes and governments. The attendees discussed the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for ensuring the security and confidence of CCS through presentations from four experts, two from overseas and the other two from RITE, moderated by Prof. Toru Sato, the University of Tokyo.
At the end of the workshop, it was concluded that the EIA for ensuring the security of CCS is essential to promote the commercialization of CCS. Development of related technologies to the EIA would enhance the social receptivity of CCS.
