The German Government has committed € 5,02 Mio. for the REETA-project to support the institutional structure for the promotion of Renewable energies (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) in the Caribbean. The relevant actors are to be supported to satisfy the demands of a growing market for RE and EE in the Caribbean. The political counterpart of the project is the Energy Unit of the CARICOM Secretariat (CCS). The project is based on the achievements of the Caribbean renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP), but will have a stronger focus on, capacity development, energy efficiency and energy consumer needs. Main objective of the planning workshop is to develop common ideas between all stakeholders and CARICOM member states and the RRETA project and to define activities to further promote the use of renewable energies and the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the Caribbean.
