This year we will celebrate the European launch of Worldwatch Institute's flagship publication together with the opening event of Worldwatch Institute Europe's Circular Economy initiative.We think we understand environmental damage: pollution, water scarcity, a warming world. But these problems are just the tip of the iceberg. Deeper issues include linear economic model, food insecurity, financial assets drained of value by environmental damage, and a rapid rise in diseases of animal origin. These and other problems are among the underreported consequences of an unsustainable global system. The event will focus on these challenges and provide insights from leading experts on how to support the transition from the current economic model towards a circular based economy in which biological materials are designed to reenter the biosphere and technical materials are designed to circulate with minimal loss of quality.
