According to reports, the Trump Administration is set to announce it is ending negotiations with the California Air Resources Board over its proposed rule to relax CAFE standards.
CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman said:
"When it comes to CAFE, California has been illegally calling the shots for too long, and usually at the expense of the public. If reports are correct, we're glad to see that the Administration now views California as a state, rather than a key negotiating partner. Continuing to allow California to dictate vehicle emissions policy makes about as much sense as allowing it to dictate high-speed rail policy."
