As the human rights situation regresses internationally, accountability is increasingly crucial to maintain respect for human rights and limit human rights violations. At the forefront of the discussion on international impunity are the GCC countries – who not only manage to avoid accountability for human rights violations and crimes, but are able to maintain lucrative business deals and military support while doing so.
The seminar will begin with a panel of experts who will discuss the local human rights situation in the GCC countries, as well as the regional impact. A viewing of the Bahrain segment of the documentary “We Are the Giant” will follow this. The second panel will include members of the Danish Parliament who will discuss the relationship between Denmark and the GCC, from the aspect of accountability and business and human rights.
