The HBO/Sky UK miniseries ‘Chernobyl’, released in May 2019, has brought renewed attention to the dramatic events at the Chernobyl nuclear power station in April 1986. This seminar takes a closer look at ‘Chernobyl’, the miniseries, and Chernobyl, the nuclear power station.
The panel will be discussing the series from the perspective of its accuracy and reflection of reality and presentations will be covering the survivor perspective, national trauma, nuclear physics and the politics of the legacy of the nuclear disaster. The speakers will be ready to answer all your questions about Chernobyl. Two of the speakers were born and grew up in areas directly affected by the nuclear disaster and they will offer personal perspectives on the event.
Attending the seminar does not require that you have watched the HBO series, all participants are welcome!
