On 8 November, ESI Research Fellow Ms Melissa Low, together with APCEL Research Assistant Mr Eric Bea, featured on The Straits Times’ Green Pulse Podcast series hosted by ST’s environment correspondent Ms Audrey Tan and climate change editor Mr David Fogarty on roadblocks that have emerged ahead of the upcoming United Nations climate change conference in December.
COP25, as the conference is known as, was supposed to be held in Chile from 2 to 13 December 2019. But protests there led Chilean President Sebastian Pinera to cancel the conference on 30 October 2019, barely a month before it was scheduled to commence. The conference will now take place over the same period in Madrid, Spain. Separately, on 4 November, United States President Donald Trump formally gave notice that the country will be pulling out of the Paris Agreement.
