In support of the NUS Resilience and Growth Initiative, part of which includes the availability of paid traineeship opportunities to graduating students, IWP has expand the number of students hired under our Summer Work Programme. This year, nineteen NUS students work six or twelve weeks with IWP’s researchers and associated faculty on challenging water policy projects. The programme provides the students the opportunity to obtain “real world” research and work experience through IWP’s applied research projects. The projects are diverse and cover topics such as water demand management, climate adaptation and food security.
The Covid-19 situation, with an ongoing circuit breaker requiring everyone to telework from home, means that the Summer Work Programme is done entirely online this year. An online kick-off meeting with all students and IWP staff took place on 11 May. Regular updates and a final online presentation are part of the programme. A new experience for both students and staff.
