Description

Intersectional approaches take historical, social and political contexts into account, recognising that vulnerable and marginalised groups are neither homogenous nor static. This event explores how different factors intersect to create exclusion, inequalities and vulnerabilities within a multi-hazard context. This includes sharing approaches for understanding intersecting inequalities, with a focus on gender, age, ethnicity, caste, class and disability and how effective intersectional approaches to vulnerability reduction and resilience-building can be developed and integrated into policies and programmes.

With the need increase the number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies by 2020, this event promotes multi-stakeholder partnerships and discusses how coherence can be achieved across international policy agendas to ensure no one is left behind.

This is an open side event at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

At the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, we discuss building coherence across international policy agendas to ensure no one is left behind.
