摘要	An initial version of the economic impact model (IMPACT) was developed at the Siberian Power Institute of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Irkutsk. The model was originally designed to study the influence of the development of the energy sector on energy-related sectors of the national economy. Subsequently, the model was brought to IIASA where it was revised to focus on the identification and comparison of long-term regional and global energy strategies in the transition period of 15 to 50 years from now. The possible influence of any given energy strategy on the economy is evaluated in terms of capital investment, manpower, materials, and natural resources that are needed to develop not only the energy supply system (ESS) but also the energy related sectors of the economy.
