摘要	Changed labor market conditions have created an increased interest in labor supply oriented regional policy. One component of such a policy is the encouragement of labor migration. In this paper it is argued that the design of an appropriate migration policy should be based on a rather detailed knowledge of the mobility characteristics of different groups of workers. We demonstrate how such knowledge could be useful for the design of mobility assistance programs by presenting recent information on policy relevant characteristics of spatial labor mobility in the Netherlands. We focus primarily on mobility characteristics of different groups, temporal patterns in spatial labor mobility, and certain spatial features of this mobility.
