This submission on proposed changes to the B.C. Building Code is in response to the public consultation undertaken by the B.C. Ministry of Energy and Mines in November and December 2011. In addition to commenting on the proposed changes, the Pembina Institute notes our disappointment that the proposed changes for 2012 are minor and do not address the scale of improvements to energy performance that are needed in order to put the B.C. building sector on track for meeting commitments to greenhouse gas reductions and net-zero energy.
