摘要 | For the first time ever, Canadian political leaders are negotiating a pan-Canadian climate plan to meet or exceed the country’s 2030 emissions reduction target. What Canada needs now is a race to the front of the pack on climate action. All provinces and territories can and should do more to reduce their emissions and align their economic and environmental policies with the ambition outlined in the Paris Agreement. This report summarizes Canada’s progress at reducing carbon pollution over the last decade, evaluates trends in Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory as they stand today, and outlines the state of climate policy nationally and in each of Canada’s provinces and territories. Our analysis closes with key policy recommendations for the prime minister and premiers as they prepare to meet this fall to release a pan-Canadian climate plan. |
