摘要 | Data centers now play an important role in modern IT infrastructures. Much research effort has been made in the field of green data center computing in order to save energy, thus making data centers environmentally friendly, for example by reducing CO2 emission. The Scientific Computing and Operations (SCO) division of the CMCC has started a research activity exploiting proactive and reactive monitoring techniques in order to reduce the power consumption of data centers by using Green Computing technologies. The goal of this research paper is to provide an overview about the main issues and challenges to improve HPC resources management in terms of power consumption. A feasibility study on the possibility to introduce a system to measure the power consumption for the CMCC data center, and in particular for the Calypso cluster, is described. |
