The Fifth Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), was held 28-30 March 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme of “Transformations towards sustainable and resilient societies'. A key preparatory meeting for the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development meeting planned for this coming July (HLPF 2018), APFSD convened member states, United Nations agencies, international organizations, major groups and other stakeholders to discuss and review regional and subregional perspectives on the cluster of SDGs to be taken up for consideration by the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council.

This fact sheet, prepared in advance of the APFSD meeting, outlines IGES key messages and recommendations regarding the cluster of Goals to be taken up for consideration by the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council at HLPF 2018, namely Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 12 (responsible consumption and production), 15 (life on land) and 17 (partnership for the Goals) — as well as interlinkages between other Goals and targets.
