Since the first international environment conference in Stockholm in 1972, there has been unprecedented public concern for the future of the planet and a growing awareness that future development has to be sustainable. At the heart of this growing agenda has been the work of the world’s leading international think-tank in the area of environment and development: the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
