Historically there has been little national-level research carried out on the health-related impacts from climate change. Fellows from the Capacity Strengthening in Least Developed Countries for Adaptation to Climate Change (CLACC) who have an established track record of working on environmental, climate change, national policy and poverty reduction issues have collated Least Developed Country and region specific knowledge on responses to climate change (focusing on the most vulnerable sectors and groups) with the aim of integrating this knowledge into national adaptation strategies. Increased national awareness and understanding of the significance of climate risks on poverty reduction and growth as well as response options that are reflective of poor people’s priorities are vital to an informed and effective adaptation strategy. These studies on the health impacts of climate change were presented at the United Nations Framework Convention in Climate Change Thirteenth Conference of the Parties side event in Bali 2007.
