摘要 | This overview paper describes how community-based approaches to climate change have emerged, and the similarities and differences between CBA and other participatory development and disaster risk reduction approaches. Whilst CBA is a relatively new field, some lessons and challenges are beginning to emerge relating to community participation in the context of climate change adaptation, and these are analysed, drawing on the experiences contained in the collection of articles for this issue. Participatory Learning and Action (PLA, formerly PLA Notes) is the world's leading series on participatory learning and action approaches and methods. PLA publishes articles on participation aimed at practitioners, researchers, academics and activists. All articles are peer-reviewed by an international editorial board. See: www.planotes.org Article in: PLA 60. Guest-edited by: Hannah Reid, Mozaharul Alam, Rachel Berger, Terry Cannon and Angela Milligan. Keywords: CBA, climate change, adaptation, participation, DRR, disaster risk reduction.
