The associated impacts affect most intensely the poor of this world, which ironically have contributed the least to global warming. Adaptation to the consequences of climate change is essential for survival and indispensable to safeguard development progress in poverty reduction and the fight against hunger. Strengthening their ability to adapt to the impact of climate change is realised as a key factor for poor countries and most vulnerable people.
