Necessity for and Purposes of this Study
As a member country of the IEA, Korea is required to enhance its bargaining power in international energy diplomacy through active participation in IEA activities and to establish itself in its proper position as a major energy-consuming country in the international energy market.
This study aims to set directions for Korea��s participation in IEA activities and for cooperative measures with other member countries, and to analyze member countries�� energy industries and policies so as to enhance Korea��s alternatives to addressing international environmental changes in the energy sector.
Major Contents and Scope of this Study
Analysis of the subjects and trends of discussions held in the SGLC (Standing Group on Long-term Cooperation) meeting
Analysis of major subjects and trends of discussions held in the CNMC (Committee on Non-Member Countries) meeting
Review of alternatives for each major subject of the discussions and of participation strategies
Analysis of changes in conditions in the energy industry and of trends in the energy policies of member countries
Analysis of current issues related to energy among member countries and search for measures for cooperation
Expectations from and Uses of this Study
Through the appropriate utilization of a system of cooperation among IEA member countries, this study helps establish energy policies and contributes to enhancing the flexibility and ability of these countries to adopt to changes in the global energy market.
Through in-depth analyses of the energy policies and industrial trends of IEA member countries, this study contributes to the development and establishment of rational energy policies for Korea.
Through an analysis of recent trends in the global energy market, this study contributes to the formulation of growth strategies of national corporations by providing them with the latest information. 1. Necessity for and Purposes of this Study
