| 摘要 | CSIS has undergone a series of three 12-month research projects on various development topics of interest to Italy: linking cultural heritage and economic growth, stressing the importance of investing in rural development and agribusiness in sub-Saharan Africa, and highlighting the role of donors like Italy in the global migration crisis. These analyses are meant to draw attention to the increasing importance of Italy’s involvement in global development issues. Italy has a major advanced economy, is a founding member of the European Union, the Eurozone, the OECD, the G7, and the G20, but is often disregarded as a major player in global development initiatives. Through its Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Italy has contributed to economic growth and prosperity around the world. These analyses focus in on three areas of interest in which Italy has already established a footprint, and should consider continuing, and in some cases, increasing its efforts.
Jena Santoro is associate director of the Project on Prosperity and Development and the Project on U.S. Leadership in Development at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Daniel F. Runde is senior vice president, director of the Project on Prosperity and Development, and holds the William A. Schreyer Chair in Global Analysis at CSIS.
