On Friday, July 17, 2015, the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted a conversation on Foreign Defense Policy of Arms Exports to Asia as the latest event of the Corporate Strategy Forum. The event, moderated by the Atlantic Council’s MA and George Lund Fellow Steven Grundman, featured Todd Chapman, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs at the US Department of State, and Keith Webster, director of International Cooperation for the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics at the US Department of State.

As part of the National Military Strategy, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey recently emphasized the need to strengthen US alliances and deepen security relationships with key partners in Asia. As arms sales will inevitably play an important role in achieving these goals, the Corporate Strategy Forum met to discuss how public policies shape companies’ business development initiatives to expand sales in international markets.

The Corporate Strategy Forum convenes chief strategists of transatlantic companies in aerospace, defense, security, and government services for a private roundtable discussion about issues confronting the long-term health of these industries.
