At a panel discussion, Stephanie Schlegel, Fellow at Ecologic, gave a presentation on the current achievements and crucial discussion points of renewable energy politics in Europe. The presentation focused on the developments in the context of the "Climate action and renewable energy package" - the recently published legislative proposal of the European Commission.

The discussion was organised by the University of Denver's Center for 21st Century Global Governance and brought together experts from the U.S. and Europe to discuss different approaches in renewable energy politics. The presentations of the event gave a comparative overview of the instruments that have been successful in promoting renewable energy in the U.S. on a federal level and in Colorado as well as in Germany and in the European Union. They highlighted the differences in the policy processes and the role of different actors, such as utilities, NGOs and the public. Panelists included:  Keith Hay, Energy Advocate at Environment Colorado Frank Laird, Associate Professor at GSIS Morey Wolfson, Colorado Governor’s Energy Office Stephanie Schlegel, Fellow at Ecologic Christoph Stefes, Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Denver.
