The risks and consequences of the anthropogenic environmental impact for international security are analyzed and evaluated by Ecologic in this project.

In the course of the NATO/CCMS Pilot Study "Environment and Security in an International Context" initiated by Germany, Ecologic analyzes and evaluates the risks and consequences of the anthropogenic environmental impact for international security and in addition proposes alternatives for international security policy. The study focuses on the evaluation of the consequences of the greenhouse effect -aridness and water shortage- in concurrence with local or regional causes of environment damage such as deforestation, overgrazing and water pollution for ecologically- and security policy-sensitive areas. The coordination with other participating countries, the involvement of other experts, the presentation of research projects at different workshops, their integration in the final report as well as the coordination of the results in the course of the Pilot Study are integral parts of this project.
