Ecologic Institute designs and conducts a workshop to enhance the negotiating capacity of Lebanon in the international climate change negotiations. The workshop targets representatives from ministries, academia and civil society and provides background and practical knowledge on the negotiations.

Strengthen Lebanon to defend its interests in the international climate change negotiations

Lebanon is party to both the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) and the Kyoto Protocol. However, a core team of experts and scientists able to follow the negotiations and support the negotiation team has so far been lacking, thus limiting Lebanon's possibilities to present and defend its interests in the international climate change negotiations.

Three day negotiation training for officials from ministries and representatives from academia and civil society

Ecologic Institute designs and conducts a three-day training seminar in Beirut for officials from relevant ministries and representatives from academia and civil society. The immediate objectives are to enhance the negotiating capacity of the Lebanese climate change negotiating team and the general capacity at the national level regarding the climate change negotiations. This is to strengthen the effective participation of Lebanon in the relevant fora. The seminar provides the essential knowledge and background that is the necessary foundation for understanding how the climate negotiations work. On the basis of the overall objective of capacity building and effective participation, the content of the seminar not only comprises the general background knowledge on the climate change negotiations but also practical information on the negotiating practice and the effective work of a delegation. Through an interactive approach, the workshop also facilitates mutual learning among participants.
