摘要      In this report for Al Jazeera Centre for Studies Helle Malmvig argues that as US power is declining and multiple global powers have taken the stage, the Middle East shows signs of more independent security dynamics compared to the Post-Cold war era: Middle Eastern governments have more room to manoeuvre in foreign policies; they have more leverage and can draw global powers into regional conflicts and shape their security perceptions. In short, the Middle East may at times be humming to the tunes of global powers, but there are several melodies to play, and no single conductor.
