摘要 | In this paper, Ambassador Carlos Pascual, non-resident Fellow and former Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the US Department of State, provides a new analytic foundation to assess how investment decisions and government policy will influence national security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. |
正文 | Energy and geopolitics have always been closely linked. The twentieth century saw access to energy resources become a major factor in determining the winners of wars, oil producers banding together to create new global alliances, and price swings that spurred or deterred the adventurism of superpowers. Now the vast and fast-paced changes in the energy sector in the twenty-first century are rewriting the relations between the two fields.
To help make sense of the shifting landscape, Ambassador Carlos Pascual, non-resident Fellow and former Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the US Department of State, has authored a paper for the Center on Global Energy Policy that provides a new analytic foundation to assess how investment decisions and government policy will influence national security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The key findings are below and the full study can be found here (PDF). *** Key Findings
