Displaced peoples, insecurity over food and sanitation, economic devastation, worsening community tensions: the Central African Republic is going through what must be the worst crisis in its history.  The existing political mechanism appears helpless. However, this serious crisis could provide the opportunity for the international community to reassess its model of intervention with respect to its choices, means and duration of involvement.
