Chinese presence in the Mediterranean is increasing: propositions for cooperation forums with various southern European countries, investment in port terminals, military maneuvering, evacuation of citizens, etc. ![]() The Mediterranean is probably not at the top of China’s list of concerns, but it remains a necessary point of passage for Chinese exports to Europe, and it plays a significant part in the strategic thinking behind the new silk roads.
