摘要 | In 2008, the Urban Institute launched its Academy for Public Policy Analysis and Research - offering college students of color critical skills, exposure, and mentoring to help them begin careers in public policy research. Although many social and economic policies are designed to address the challenges facing minorities and residents of distressed communities, people of color are underrepresented in the field of public policy research. The Urban Institute's Academy successfully served four classes of students and the experience offers key lessons - regarding prerequisites, program content, and student supports - for efforts to prepare young people of color for public policy research careers.
