摘要 | Gun violence imposes a uniquely destructive burden on youth, their families, and their communities –this violence is not always reported to police or social service providers. Unfortunately, research based on DC’s gunfire detection technology suggests that children may experience a substantial volume of gunfire around their schools. Using this detection technology, we can better identify where gunfire is most prevalent so that social services can be deployed effectively. With this information, community-developed programs like Housing Opportunity and Service Together, which provide safe spaces for youth development, can make sure DC students have the support they need to succeed.
