摘要

The field of family philanthropy is growing quickly in terms of giving and the number of family foundations. This report presents the results of the first nationally representative survey of family foundations. It finds that most family foundations have been created in the last 20 years and are comparatively small. Orientations toward giving, impact assessment and measurement, and managing daily affairs differ according to age and size. Other survey topics include payout rates, compensating board members, foundation perpetuity, and engaging the next generation of family members.
