摘要 | In November 2014, the Obama administration announced the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program, which would protect as many as 3.6 million unauthorized immigrants who are parents of US citizens or lawful permanent residents from deportation and provide eligibility for work authorization. This report describes the population of unauthorized immigrant parents potentially eligible for DAPA and the likely impacts of the program on potential recipients and their children, most of whom are US born. The report builds on previous Urban Institute and Migration Policy Institute research on the effects of parental unauthorized status on children.
