摘要

This Op ED – published by the Los Angeles Times on Labor Day Sunday, September 2, 2018 – focuses on the trustworthiness of election polling leading pup to the 2018 midterm elections. Both election meddling as well as voter suppression are cited as factors that could skew polling results from actual election outcomes. An AAPOR Task force report on election polling is cited to reinforce confidence of polling results in general, although the results for a particular contest can and do differ from time to time. The op ed ends with an overall recommendation to accept polling results for what they are – imperfect representations of true voter sentiment.
