摘要 | In this study, we update our 2018 analysis of trends in the individual insurance market by exploring what brokers say about new and emerging options in the individual market. We assess market trends in seven study states— Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Texas, and Utah—through a review of insurer participation, premiums, and enrollment data and through structured interviews with health insurance brokers. Overall, brokers report that the marketplaces have been stabilizing following a tumultuous period of policy change and premium increases. However, despite this stability, affordability is still a pressing issue, especially for those who do not receive financial assistance. Brokers appreciate the ability to sell the alternative plan options but simultaneously expressed concern about how risky many of these products can be for their clients. |
