| 摘要 | Summarizes the results of a three-year project funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to monitor and evaluate the performance of the Medicare+Choice program in 69 markets across the country. Notes that participation by managed care organizations declined dramatically across the board from 1999-2001, benefits declined and premiums increased in many markets, and beneficiary enrollment began to decline in 2000, with many returning to fee-for-service Medicare. Some markets were hit much harder by these changes than others, partly as a function of payment rates. While these are signs of a program in trouble, Medicare+Choice benefits still compare favorably to traditional Medicare supplemented with Medigap coverage, and performance on quality indicators is generally good. |
