This chapter assesses the extent to which the EU-China partnership has influenced the convergence of respective perceptions and positions on climate change. It explores whether bilateral partnerships and, notably, the EU-China one, are a relevant level of engagement in dealing with climate change and sustainable development; the shortcomings that the climate change and sustainable development debate exposes in the practice and content of the EU strategic partnership with China and how to address them.
