Botswana has undergone one of the world’s most impressive economic growth rates within the past four decades, however it has had limited success with economic diversification, with a small reduction in the mining industry and an increase in the services sector. Recent indicators point to the increasing importance of the services sector in Botswana’s economic development and diversification in the growth process. This report provides an assessment of Botswana’s services sector with the aim to identify possible policy options, in particular in the case of ongoing regional and multilateral services trade negotiations, to support further exports of services from Botswana.
