The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate’s recently launched 2018 report, Unlocking the inclusive growth story of the 21st century: accelerating climate action in urgent times, aims to galvanise action by economic and financial leaders in government and the private sector by highlighting the economic opportunities associated with bold climate action.

For the first time, research by the New Climate Economy has an explicit focus on adaptation and resilience, including new analysis of the water system, where the impacts of climate change are first felt. ODI led research for the water chapter and also contributed to the chapters on industry and energy.

The launch events for the report included a roundtable for an invited audience at ODI, with a discussion on focusing on adaptation, in the context of the recently-established Global Commission on Adaptation. The event included representation from the Global Commission and numerous stakeholders from the broader New Climate Economy partnership and networks.
