Forest adaptation to Climate Change involves a series of management options affecting the natural as well as the social system. The latter is the principal actor (i.e. who takes initiative) for improving the adaptive capacity of the former. In this respect, in a context of countries with socioeconomic and territorial limitations (like the scarce resources countries of interest for TroFCCA project) the involvement of the social system in adaptation options for natural systems is a function of the “utilitarian perspective” of the social system. In these contexts, the priorization of benefits in the short term largely overcomes the long term horizon benefits of adaptation to climate change.
